Thailand Food and Drug Administration Registration

In Thailand to officially “legalize” one’s medical marijuana products, he or she must register said products under the jurisdiction of the Thailand FDA.

To successfully do this, one must have an ID, medical certificate/prescription, and a duty filled application form. Medical marijuana users can visit the Thailand FDA’s Bangkok office to register. For people who live in other areas of Thailand, they can go to the Thailand provincial health office to register.

If a tourist comes into Thailand with a supply of medical marijuana, he or she must have sufficient paperwork and documentation. Additionally, he or she will need to inform the Thailand Public Ministry of Health through the filling out of a document that declares the amount of marijuana brought into the country. Without proof of a medical prescription, the Thailand government will penalize the tourist including confiscating his or her medical marijuana supply.

Legalization and the Future of Marijuana in Thailand In January of 2022, marijuana was officially removed from Thailand’s illicit drug list. As a result, Thailand citizens now have the ability to grow cannabis and marijuana if registered with the government. Marijuana cannot be used for recreational purposes without acquiring further permits and government documentation.
