50 Best Strains Of Weed

Choosing which strains of weed to try from the limitless varieties without contemplating the kinds of pot that could potentially be growing on other planets is enough to make some green cannabis consumers anxious or excited.

It’s even quite common for really serious stoners to get a little depressed when they contemplate how no one will ever be able to smoke every single strain of wonderful weed in the universe.

We cross-referenced data from LeaflyWeedmapsHightimesComplex, and Weed Horn to bring you the ultimate list of our 53 favorite mouth-watering strains of marijuana. We hope that our guide will help make your quest to find your favorite strains of cannabis a little easier.

The 53 Best Weed Strains

We’re not ranking these according to any scale, so they’re in no particular order. Enjoy!

53: Dutch Cheese

Dutch Cheese is a little bit of a mystery in the cannabis community. Why? Because only one of its parents are known (Euforia). That makes Dutch Cheese one bastard of a strain. Sorry, Dutchy.

But don’t let its parental heritage dissuade you. Dutch Cheese is a cerebral high that will leave you feeling uplifted and euphoric. All of that wrapped in a sweet, fruit-flavored package that is sure to please.

52: Chernobyl

We love this strain because it smells like teen spirit. Just kidding. It’s even better than that — it smells like lime sherbet!

Chernobyl is a mix of Trainwreck, Trinity, and Jack The Ripper. Contrary to its “powerful” and “scary” name, Chernobyl is more about floating away on a happy, relaxed cloud than it is about watching the walls have a meltdown. That makes Chernobyl great for relieving stress and bad moods.

51: Chem Dog

Chem Dog can trace its roots back to the well-known strains Kush, Hash Plant, and Northern Lights. It offers very pungent, earthy diesel flavors and results in a relaxed, euphoric high with tinges of creativity floating on the periphery.

But like many of the strains on this list, Chem Dog should be approached with the caution it deserves. THC levels top out at 15-20% so it can kick you where it counts in no time flat and take you deep inside your head (for good or bad) on a very cerebral trip.

50: Death Star

Death Star Strain_50

To paraphrase a classic line, “That’s no moon. It’s a ganja strain!” Death Star shares its sativa and indica effects with its parents Sensi Star and Sour Diesel and offers a truly unique experience.

Though sometimes slow to take over, Death Star never fails to zap your cares and will transport you to a state of relaxed euphoria like none other. Like its parent strain, Sour Diesel, Death Star produces flavors akin to the pungent, earthy diesel we’ve all come to know and love.

The thick frosty leaves of the Death Star strain smoke very smooth and slow while, at the same time, delivering a heady indica punch for those who want to get stuck on their couch for a few hours.

49: Ghost Train Haze

Ghost Train Haze Strain_49

Bred from parents Ghost OG and Nevil’s Wreck, this strain measures in at 25% THC content and can serve as your express train to good times. Contrary to its name, Ghost Train Haze has a tendency to stimulate focus and creativity so you won’t be walking around in a daze (or haze)

Ghost Train Haze won’t scare you silly but it will knock your socks off with flavors reminiscent of sweet, earthy citrus. Delicious! All aboard the Ghost Train Haze express.

48: Red Dragon

Red Dragon Strain_48

Another potent strain that specializes in a heady sense of happiness, euphoria, and the seemingly-at-odds relaxation and excitement. That’s a mystical combination with an appropriately mystical name.

Legend has it that this strain got its name from the vivid red hairs that adorn the mature buds and give them a dragon-like appearance. I don’t know about all that but this is certainly an excellently powerful strain that will fly you to places you’ve never even imagined.

Do you have what it takes to tame the Red Dragon? Regardless, it will be one hell of a ride!

47: Yoda OG

Yoda OG Strain_47

Yoda OG is one of the best-matched marijuana strains for a quality couch lock session. It’s combined mental and body indica buzz will soothe your senses as your mind unwinds and your body melts between the cushions.

Any chronic pain or emotional stress will disappear in a pungent puff the moment you light up, making this the cannabis companion of choice for both recreational and medical marijuana users.

46: ChemDawg

ChemDawg Strain_46Source: AllBud.com

Chemdawg can trace its roots (again, pun intended) back to the well-known strains Kush, Hash Plant, and Northern Lights. It offers very pungent, earthy diesel flavors and results in a relaxed, euphoric high with tinges of creativity floating on the periphery.

But like many of the strains on this list, Chemdawg should be approached with the caution it deserves. THC levels top out at 15-20% so it can kick you where it counts in no time flat and take you deep inside your head (for good or bad) on a very cerebral trip.

45: Cherry OG

Cherry OG Strain_45Source: CannabisReports.com

The Cherry OG strain is the child of Cherry Thai, Afghani, and Lost Coast OG and is a 50/50 blend of indica and sativa that produces a pleasant 50/50 combination of mind and body high. You start with the heady high of sativa and end with a deep body relaxation that is a signature effect of indica.

True to its name, the first thing you’ll probably notice about this unique bud is that it is smaller and darker than most, and has a visibly reddish tone. It’s quite reminiscent of, well, what else? Cherries! Sometimes a name does really say it all.

44: Black Gorilla

Black Gorilla Strain_44

Black Gorilla is a hybrid of Gorilla Glue #4 (a potent strain in itself) and Bright Berry so you know it’s gotta be good. This is one of those names that I often question.

It’s like they just picked a word out of a dictionary without giving it any thought. Aren’t most gorillas black? I certainly haven’t smoked enough weed that my answer would be no.

So why name it that? Why not get creative and call it Green Gorilla? Nice use of consonance, don’t you think? Dibs on the name, by the way! Or maybe go the rhyming way with Vanilla Gorilla?

Prosaic name aside, this is a nicely potent strain that will knock you on your ass like you’ve been hit by a black gorilla…oh, now I get it.

43: Kandy Kush

Kandy Kush Strain_43

Kandy Kush is a sweet-flavored hybrid (sativa/indica mix) that produces a distinct lemon scent when smoked. It’s become a favorite amongst medical users because of its potent high and strong pain-relief quality.

Results may vary but Kandy Kush is great for relieving stress, depression, lack of appetite, and insomnia. That means, if you’re using this on a recreational basis, that you’ll feel awesome (physically and mentally), have a good meal, and get a great night’s sleep.

I’ll take that experience any day.

42: Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies

Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies Strain_42

Some weed strains have very strange names and you just know they were thought up while under the influence. Other strains have names that are both appropriate and descriptive and were likely thought up in a stroke of genius (also under the influence, of course).

Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies is certainly one of the latter. Forget about the 17-28% THC. Forget about the euphoria and relaxation it creates. This strain is named appropriately because—like the delicious cookies—you can just never get enough.

41: Fruity Pebbles

Fruity Pebbles Stain_41Source: Pinterest.com

The Fruity Pebbles strain is an excellent choice for the beginner and expert alike. It’s mild but powerful effects won’t have you bouncing off the walls or held captive by your couch, but it will take you to places you’ve never been before.

This strain traces its roots back to the likes of Tahoe Alien, Green Ribbon, and Granddaddy Purple. Thanks to these distinguished genetics, Fruity Pebbles is a versatile bud with plenty of beneficial effects—both recreational and medicinal—that can be used for a variety of intents and purposes.

It’s well worth a quick try.

40: Afternoon Delight

Afternoon Delight is famous for its small, dense nugs that give off a distinct aroma of pepper, flowers, and pine. This indica-dominant hybrid has been described as producing “a hazy aura that engulfs the mind and body.”

Other dominant effects include relaxation and euphoria which means that this uplifting strain was very aptly named.

39: Bettie Page

If you’re looking to stoke your creativity, Bettie Page may be just the thing for you. This 50/50 hybrid that tastes of berries and diesel will have you coming up with some of your best weed-fueled inspirations ever.

One cannaenthusiast described this high-THC strain as producing mellow euphoria that focuses itself in the cerebral space and encourages energy rather than lethargy. Sounds great to me!

38: Acapulco Gold

Acapulco Gold Strain_38Source: GrowingMarijuanaBlog.com

As the name suggests, Acapulco Gold originated in and around Acapulco, Mexico, although it’s becoming more and more difficult to find as grow operations move indoors.

This sativa strain is redolent with sweet, earthy, and citrus flavors that propel you into a happy place faster than a real trip to Acapulco.

37: Satori

Satori Strain_37Source: BreedBay.co.uk

Satori is indica/sativa hybrid that brings on feelings of extreme bliss. The high has been described as clear and powerful and will certainly fly the most jaded cannabis consumer to new euphoric and psychotropic places.

36: Alien Abduction

Alien Abduction Strain_36Source: MedicalJane.com

Alien Abduction packs a high-THC punch which may be where the strain got its name. It’s easy to imagine the original consumer of this product being sure he was being, or at least had been, abducted by aliens.

Alien Abduction combines a righteous head buzz with a “Why is my head so heavy?” body high. Medical users rave about Alien Abduction’s appetite-stimulant and sleep-aid properties.

35: AK-47

AK-47 Strain_35Source: TheNug.com

Though AK-47 may sound like it might put you down for the count faster than you can say, “Let’s get baked,” it’s really one of the more cuddly and lovable strains available.

The sweet, earthy, and woody aromas of this strain are the first thing you’ll notice, followed by a heady mix of energy, euphoria, and relaxation. This is a great choice if you want to function and have a good time rather float away into your own psychedelic world.

34: Brainwreck

Brainwreck Strain_34Source: Pinterest.com

Brainwreck is the love child of a threesome between the strains Trainwreck, Brain Child, and Brain. Its effects are exhilarating and cerebral, making it the smart choice for consumers looking to avoid fatigue.

The nice thing about Brainwreck is that the mental effects last a lot longer than the physical effects.

33: Gravity

Gravity Strain_33Source: Notey.com

Gravity is an indica strain that is becoming well-known for its high CBD content. That CBD punch makes it a popular choice for the treatment of chronic pain and stress.

Medical users like the fact that the Gravity strain can leave you relaxed but with energy to spare for normal activities.

32: Bordello

If you like sativa-like mental effects from an indica-dominant strain, you’ll love experiencing what Bordello has to offer. Users say this strain hits behind the eyes first and then spreads throughout the body.

The combination of euphoric and uplifting effects will have you wondering how you’ll ever manage to focus your brain again.

It’s wise to clear your calendar and give your whole day over to Bordello just in case you can’t find your way out. Reminds me of this strain’s namesake.

The Carl Sagan strain can do that for you. Nuff said.

29: Bogart

The Bogart strain is reminiscent of earth and wood with subtle undertones of lemony goodness. Add in Bogart’s high THC content, and you’ve got a hybrid strain that is particularly useful for patients suffering from PTSD, nausea, stress, and chronic pain.

28: Cloud 9

One toke of the Cloud 9 strain and you’ll be…on cloud nine! Sorry, that comparison is mandatory in the Strain Writer’s Handbook. If I hadn’t made that terrible joke, I’d be subjected to eight hours of the movie Back To The Beach on repeat as punishment.

Only the happy, giggly relaxation of the Cloud 9 strain could have gotten me through that hell on Earth.

27: Beastmode OG

Cannabis in Thailand

Jump to navigationJump to search

In Thailand, cannabis, known by the name ganja (ThaiกัญชาRTGSkancha) is decriminalized in 2022. Medical use has been made legal since 2018.[1] Since 2022, cannabis plant is fully removed from narcotic list. Possession, cultivation, distribution, consumption, and sales of cannabis plant parts are legal, especially for personal use. However, license and permission may be required in some circumstances. Import and export of cannabis are still highly regulated. Recreational use of cannabis products is discouraged but legal if the THC content is below 0.2% by weight. However, there is no restriction on THC for the consumption of cannabis plant parts. Not according to the government (The government said it is still illegal to grow, possess and consume cannabis products containing more than 0.2 percent of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary compound that makes people high. Cannabis smoking is legal for private use but prohibited in public area.[2][3]

Cannabis appears to have been introduced to Thailand from India, with the similarity of the Thai name to the Indian term ganja cited as evidence.[4] Cannabis has historically been used in Southeast Asia as an ingredient, a kitchen condiment, a medicine, and a source of fiber.[5] Laborers were known to use it as a muscle relaxer. It was reportedly used to ease women's labor pains.[6]

On 8 May 2022, Thailand's health minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced in a Facebook post that the government will distribute one million free cannabis plants to households across the country, starting June 9. The move is said to be a step further into Thailand's plan to use cannabis as a cash crop.

Legalization and decriminalization[edit]

The possession, cultivation, sales, and use of cannabis were criminalized by the Cannabis Act 2477 BE (1935)[9] and again by the Narcotics Act 2522 BE (1979).[10] In 2018, Thailand became the first Asian nation to legalize medical cannabis.[11][12] Cannabis clinic was available as early as April 2022.[13] Starting from June 9, 2022, all cannabis plant parts was entirely removed from the narcotic list decriminalizing all cannabis-related crime.[2] Around 4,200 prisoners were released as a result of the decriminalization on the same day.[14]

Regulations[edit]

Consumption[edit]

There is no restriction on the consumption of cannabis plant parts. Not true according to the government. The government said it is still illegal to grow, possess and consume cannabis products containing more than 0.2 percent of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary compound that makes people high. However, cannabis extracts with THC higher than 0.2% and cannabis seed extracts are still on the narcotic list. Consumption of these extracts is only reserved for medical use under prescription.[2][3] Cannabis smoking is legal for personal use in private area but not encouraged by the government and is prohibited in public areas by the Public Health Act 2535 BE (1992) with the fine up to 25,000 Baht (~700 USD) or the imprisonment up to 3 months.[14]

Cultivation[edit]

Households will be able to cultivate up to six cannabis pot plants at home if they register with authorities, and companies can also farm the plant with a permit. The specific law regulating cannabis is still pending in Thai parliament as of June 2022. However, the government urges people to register their cannabis plantation on the website or the application "Plookganja" (meaning "Let's grow cannabis") in case that the future cannabis law may require the license.[15]

Supply[edit]

Thai law essentially excludes all foreign companies as well as foreign majority companies incorporated in Thailand from producing, selling, importing, exporting, and processing cannabis. The move has been viewed as an effort to protect local companies from the onslaught of highly resourceful and modern technology equipped foreign actors.[16]

Distribution[edit]

On 11 May, Thailand's first two full-time clinics dispensing cannabis oil for medical treatment were inaugurated. The move is in line with the government's intentions to promote licensed use of medical marijuana to address various health conditions. These two clinics are an addition to 25 part-time clinics that are operating since the legalization of the drug under the new legislation.[17] If this experience produces promising results, the government is all set to open two more clinics as a part of a planned nationwide network of marijuana clinics. [18] The people who were using illegal expensive medical marijuana from underground suppliers are most likely to benefit from it. In addition, the FDA has approved all hospitals of the Public Health Ministry to prescribe medical cannabis to people with approved medical conditions.[19][20]

Weedmaps and the Cannabis strain Thai stick

Artisan Canna Cigars was created by my partner Nathan and myself, only after acknowledging how much we could accomplish by working together within this amazing way of life. It developed into something much greater than we could’ve anticipated or imagined.

A year and over 50 collaborations later, we’ve developed a franchising company. I’ve gotten to meet incredibly talented and wonderful friends along the way, much like the remarkable @h1tmanlou. His skill trait is something of wonders, and we will always be building our craft and positivity to its fullest potential.

The strain “Thai Stick,” grown by the hill tribes in northeast Thailand, was some of the highest quality marijuana found in the ’70s. The hill tribes of Thailand generally used silk line to hold “Thai buds” together around either bamboo sticks or hemp stalks. I’ve heard many incredible stories from various veterans, my father included, who engulfed himself within this rich untold history. I would hear stories of such sensational highs about these opium dipped thai sticks.

In the book Thai Stick: Surfers, Scammers, and the Untold Story of the Marijuana Trade, Peter Maguire and Mike Ritter explain how surfers who were declared “Draft Dodgers,” were moving shipments of Thai sticks from farms in northeast Thailand to the states.

These guys ended up creating one of the most complex smuggling channels in history, not to mention opening the states up to one trippy ride!

The Modernization of the Thai Stick

To me, it seemed impossible for this particular craft to have completely fallen out, even with the taboo that comes along with it. I then discovered a character known as Afgoo_head, who had been lingering on the social media site Instagram for a while creating in-depth posts regarding basic work with this medicine, along with the day-to-day fun that comes along with cannabis exploration.

Using the basic method of applying cannabis to a stick, he was able to transition this old school trade to the clean and all natural pure cannabis cigars you can find today.

The moment he posted a description and image of his first attempt, I was hooked! I engulfed myself within this way of life and spent hours discussing techniques with Afgoo_head.

For several weeks and months, we had conversations that opened new doors, within vastly different realms I had not been mentally exposed to yet. From the detailed personal descriptions he graced me with, to my first few failed attempts at forming it, I was able to truly educate and mold my own style in this new craft.

Grow information Wild Thailand is a pure sativa strain, growing up to nearly 10 feet tall in outdoor gardens. As such, it requires a more extended flowering period and is ready for harvest in 70 days indoors or early November in outdoor gardens. Thanks to its landrace genetics, Wild Thailand is resilient to most pests and diseases. It prefers a more humid, warmer climate than most cultivars. Seeds for Wild Thailand are commercially available.

As he proceeded on with creating specialty designs and multiple stick crafts, I took in every detail and began to understand my own capabilities. Through constant effort and intense amounts of time, I began to notice a flow or rhythm to my own art form.

The most important thing I learned was to not put a cap on my abilities.

Only he and I, at that point, had formed cannabis cigars using this technique and as to how far this might extend around us, I was personally not prepared for.

Each craft is vacuum-sealed after each leaf layer is applied, which allows the craft to solidify at a quicker rate. This layering process is repeated three times within a two and half week period.

By giving each stick time to compress and solidify even further, you allow each craft to enter itself through an infusing process. At this point, the oils and concentrates begin to seep within the hardened stone-like cannabis cigar, which allows each person to feel an almost indescribable high.

The most frequent statement I’ve heard people say when inhaling the rich smoke is, “I feel like I’m high for the first time again!”

The effects that these formations have on the body and mind are a powerful thing; in just a few hits, you’ve open yourself up to even more healing capabilities—and in a completely natural way.

We all hurt and heal for different reasons, but pain still remains with us all. For any person who is remotely interested in cannabis and its many uses, be sure to follow up soon for more in-depth blogs and summaries.

Wild Thailand is, as expected, descended from a landrace strain from the Ko Chang region of Thailand. A rare pure sativa, Wild ,Thai, features, fluffy, acid-green buds with spindly orange hairs and sparkling white trichomes. Online sources report that Wild Thailand blends earth and berry aromas with a layer of sweetness. Its smoke features a matching sugary taste mixed with fresh berries and wet dirt.

Thai is a name given to most landrace strains that are derived from an unspecified region in Thailand. Thought to be pure Sativa cultivars, Thai strains first gained fame as being the flower of choice for Thai sticks in the 1960s and 1970s due to the long, impressive size of its buds. Consumers would take the stickiest flowers, skewer them on stems, and tie them in place with string, usually referred to as “Rasta Hair.”

Many seed banks carry either pure Thai seeds or their own in-house phenotypes. Most contain a citrusy flavor, likely due to higher limonene content, while consumers favor the flower for its pleasing taste and reported energizing effects.

Grow information

Thai landrace cultivars are highly prized for their stable genetics, short flowering cycle, and immense yields. When grown outdoors, the strains have plenty of room to spread out their roots and develop into massive plants. Thai strains typically reach full maturity in late November when grown outdoors and 9-10 weeks inside. Some odor control measures may be necessary, as Thai landraces produce pungent smells where they take root. Available Form: Seeds only

Kratom vendors in Thailand profit during COVID-19 outbreak

Residents of Hat Yai district of Songkhla are looking for fresh Kratom leaves to consume and sell while some vendors boil the leaves and make Kratom herbal drinks to sell by the bottle, both at stores and online.

A newly trending economic crop is nothing other than Kratom since it was removed from the list of illegal drugs. Members of the public can now grow, possess, trade, and consume at will. People in many areas currently earn useful income selling Kratom, at a time of widespread unemployment due to COVID-19.

Residents of Hat Yai district of Songkhla are looking for fresh Kratom leaves to consume and sell. Some vendors boil the leaves and make Kratom herbal drinks to sell by the bottle, both at stores and online. Most of the sellers say they were unemployed due to the impact of Covid-19 and by selling Kratom, they now have a job. According to the sellers, 1 kilogram of Kratom leaves can bring a profit of 100 – 200 baht.

However, they tend to agree that there should be an authority to control the trade in Kratom, as there are concerns about the price as more people are now selling Kratom.

At the same time in Bangkok, it was reported that some shops in Din Daeng market that now specialize in selling Kratom leaves, are being overwhelmed by customers every day.

One of the sellers said only some customers buy Kratom leaves to resell, while most of them buy the leaves for their own consumption as Kratom leaves have medicinal properties.

In addition, the majority of Kratom leaves are from the southern region where almost every province grows the plant. Besides being available at storefronts, people can also lookup social media platforms and online stores for Kratom products. (NNT)
